Birthday photo shoots were a very popular request as we headed from December to January! With COVID-19 putting a halt on a lot of birthday parties for families, doing something special was still on the list. I was so happy when Mom wanted to start the new year off with a special twinkle twinkle cake smash for her son’s first birthday! She was thrilled that I already had this theme previously created in my portfolio as it’s very close to his nursery decor! And what an adorable little man that came to see me at my Newington, CT photography studio! He was all smiles from the get-go and we started the session by doing some easy simple portraits with a subtle white background before moving into the themed set area for some balloon play. The cake – we weren’t too sure about! And that’s ok! Children have different developmental stages at this first birthday and some have had more experiences with both food, textures, and messy play than others. We do recommend experimenting with your child prior to our session for best results in this way. But, sometimes kids arrive and they just aren’t feeling it for one reason or another! But we work our magic to make sure that they still have some fun playing with the cake using whatever tools necessary. After some cake-time we switched over to the bath, where we were much happier playing with the rubber ducks and splashing around. In the end, this family chose an heirloom Signature Album and some high resolution digital files to enjoy the many favorites from his adorable gallery!
