Petite Newborn Portrait Photography | Avon, CT

Baby Alex’s mom called me when he was 8 weeks old (but he was also born 8 weeks premature) and was hoping to book a petite newborn portrait session with me as many other photographers she contacted were hesitant to take on an older baby. But preemies are on a little bit of a different schedule and although their “womb memory” loss makes their joints a little bit tighter for some poses, in many cases they can be just as flexible and sleepy as full term babies! When they arrived to my Newington, CT studio, you wouldn’t have known that he was born 8 weeks early! This healthy, 9lb baby boy was absolutely adorable and had the cutest cheeks! He was a HUNGRY boy though and wanted to keep snuggling and eating with Mom (I don’t blame him!). But my baby whisperer powers won him over and we were able to get so many adorable photos! And because he was a little gassy, I captured a lot of sweet smiles too that you’ll see below! Mom also was hoping for a fall theme, so many of my prop photos were taken with fall layers and colors in mind. I just love the plaid layer I have been able to use a few times this year! And of course, no newborn session with me is complete without some sort of bed pose, which he looks so cute in with the plaid blanket! I am so happy that his mom will have an heirloom album, handcrafted frame, and some keepsake digital files of her favorites to enjoy and display!
