Newington Chamber Business Before Hours | Newington, CT

This blog post highlights my introduction by hosting a Newington Chamber Business Before Hours event at my home and studio. I joined the Newington Chamber of Commerce in 2018 with the hopes of networking and connecting with other small businesses and supporting their endeavors in our community. I’ve always been a “cheerleader” for small businesses, so this has been a great way to get involved and meet others that are self employed and work just as hard as I do to deliver a quality product to their clients! I’ve attended some events and networking meetings and met some really great people! So, it was time to host an event of my own and formally introduce the other businesses to what we do here at The Flash Lady Photography. And what a turnout it was! We hosted over 35 other small business owners, many of whom were excited and impressed to see what I am able to do in my small zoned studio location and office space. After everyone had a turn with their own business commercials (and yummy breakfast goodies from the Italian Gourmet & Deli!), it was my turn to present. We discussed not only what I do as a professional photographer and the importance of working with someone trained, experienced, and insured, but also working with someone who can help you from start to finish, and produce some quality product options as well to display those images. I was thankful to be joined by my friend Joel from Joel Whitney Picture Frame to show everyone the difference in superior, handmade quality produced right here in Connecticut. We also talked about company headshots for business owners, and how your first impression on your marketing materials is so important to showing clients how much you care about your business and product. You can have a beautiful website, but if your headshot reflects a poorly lit cell phone photo what does that say about your finished product? After a quick group photo outside, I toured my studio and office with business owners and answered additional questions about my services. When the event was finished, I photographed headshots for a few business owners that booked an appointment and we got some great results!
