Boho Floral Cake Smash | Southington, CT

We have a lot of adorable themes for baby girls here at my Newington, CT studio. So sometimes it’s hard to pick just one! When Mom reached out to book her first birthday session for her daughter, she couldn’t decide between my bohemian, floral, or farmhouse themes because they were all so cute! In the end, we combined features from all of them and I just love how this came out! Using real props allows me to combine items from so many different ideas into ways that a client will love! And Mom was so happy with what I came up with! This little girl had some of the most beautiful features I’ve ever seen! Long eyelashes, brown eyes, and such a soft look even when serious – you just wanted to pick her up and hug her! She loved playing on my newer bed set up and getting to know my studio before we headed into the set area. Balloons were a big hit too! Now cake time? Meh….she really didn’t like getting messy! And with about 50% of kids that’s definitely the case! Think about it – we spend their entire first year wiping them and cleaning them constantly! And now all of a sudden we want them to be messy? Sometimes they aren’t quite a fan yet. But with patience and experience, we can adjust the session to make them happy and still get some great photos too! I put one of my little beds in the set with a teddy bear so we could still see her cake, but she didn’t have to touch it. And that was perfectly fine for her! Playing with ducks at tub time afterwards was great too! So we ended up with a beautiful gallery that her family can enjoy.
